Cuban photographer Izuky Pérez
Thanks for establishing contact after you´ve been see my work as a photographer. My name is Izuky Pérez Hernández. I was born on September 12nd, 1982 in Banes, a beautiful village on the north coast, in eastern Cuba.
The very idyllic think that I come from a family of artists who studied at an academy of photography: nothing further from reality! My photographic training is entirely self-taught. After finishing my studies in Industrial Electrical Maintenance and subsequently working several years as a professor of computer science, at the beginning of 2006 I received my first gift, brand new SONY H1 digital camera. That gift changed my life forever, since that day I knew I wanted to be a photographer.
With the help of several friends and ease of Internet access, banned for Cubans in those years, I discovered the wonderful world of photography. My years of tireless study and professional development have elapsed in a speech outside the conventional rhetoric of Cuban photography, beside my admiration for the great photographers from Eastern Europe and North America.
The versatility of photographic genres in which delved is probably one of the keys that have allowed me a professional winning; although, I prefer to concentrate my efforts towards Destination Weddings and Artistic Nudes.
There are two aspects without which I could not live: work and music. Besides, I like to read when I have time and also travel. I feel myself moved by deep nationalist sentiment; I love my country and my people.
I believe in Martí; I believe in men and humanity rather than everything.
To all the people who believed in me, who supported me when my future was uncertain; those who are with me and those who do not; to all of you: thank you.
